Okay, it’s finally time to admit that I ….have a crush!! Since I teach a lot of young people I sometimes keep movies on that are musically encouraging…i.e. Mary Poppins, Sound of Music…and lately Phantom of the Opera. Slews of the kids LOVE the last one. Therefore I keep it going quite often. I’ve actually blogged about the movie before, but this time….different. It didn’t do so well at the box office, but I understand that DVD sales and rentals are pretty good. Weeeeellll, I was watching it today and I thought to myself, man that guy who plays the Phantom is really hot! (At least half of his face is…) I knew that I had seen him in other movies, but I guess I really didn’t pay that much attention! The only one I remember was “Timeline.” (Great book; movie…could have been MUCH better….) I remember that the only reason why I continued watching the movie was because there was this really hot guy with an amazing Scottish dialect! Then, my friend reminded me that she had another movie that he was in…so I borrowed it and watched it…(what is wrong with me!)…and I was like….he’s SO hot!! Of course I didn’t like the part where he….well….watch “Reign of Fire.” THEN, I remember a movie…Dracula 2000…(I’m a Dracula freak)…and he played the lead part. And he was SOOOO H-O-T!! SO…I checked out the trusty ole IMDB…oye!…he’s hot…especially in white!!! I found out where he’s from…Scotland and thought…Hollowman-KENNY!! You can help out with this guy!! You live in Scotland! Hook-Me-Up!! Like he’d even notice a little girl in Texas with a little…well at the moment BIG…crush….but hey, it’s worth a try!! J So Kenny if there is ANY way you could hook me up with Gerard Butler please help me out!! I would probably first of all faint!! Or die a very happy girl!! J HA!!! All this said…typed….I’m SO crushing on Gerard Butler! (Help!!! I so need to get out more!!!) J

 Wow! What an awesome weekend!! We had Turning Point weekend at our church and I got the privilege to work with the 7^th grade girls and they were AWESOME!! Of course, we got kicked out of Wal-Mart for doing parts of our video scavenger hunt, witnessed to some cool bikers at the movies…after we leapfrogged right in front of the building…ROCK!! We were crazy!!  And sorry Matt about “resting” while the girls galloped through the woods to see the boys. I saw the hair….flour and water…HA!!….I told them, “That’s what ya get for ‘forkin’ someone’s yard!!”  (Tug, you’ll have to add that to your list of what NOT to do next year…forkin’!!) Hee, hee!! I had to ask Cary what “spoonin’” was….OYE!! On a more spiritual side…kudos to Matt Rey-Rey and his friend for the really amazing study! You guys SO need to publish that!! It was on discipline and God grace and love in His discipline! He’s kind but not soft!! I personally learned a ton!! I’ll never be the same again!!! Also kudos to Curis and the gang…Chris too (a.k.a. Magnum P.I.…hee, hee!!!) P&W was ROCK-AWESOME!! And the stranger…Heath Guilbert!! Man, you so rocked too!! Of course, you’re entire family is SOOO musically gifted, it’s amazing!! Can I say I’m an Ashley fan…uh YEAH!!! It’s been ages since I’ve seen you!! You’re such a sweet heart! But WHAT is up with the facial hair….okay…it looks great!!  Curtis and the gang, along with Tug…uh….Dan….also lead worship Sunday night at “big church.” Thank you for ushering in the sweet presence of the Lord guys!! Wow!!

Oh and BTW, Curtis, what is up with the, “Curtis says “hi” thing? ….uh…..”Hi, back!” Oh and NO! You can’t borrow my book if you’re only going to look at it! HELLO!  Hey, another BTW: Were you making fun of me in the choir room? How rude!!!    

One more thing!! Car-man! The t-shirts were AWESOME!! You’re such a sweetie!! I so enjoyed our “guy talk” at TCBY!  

OH!! And I have to say THANK YOU to the Barry's for letting us stay at their house!! It is SO BEAUTIFUL!!  You guys are AWESOME!!!  

I am SUCH a dork!! It’s been one of those loooooong days that you have in your life when your brain is just…tired! Or here in the Ark-La-Tex we say “tarred.” So I had an interview with David Jackson of The Musicians Cooler! (AWESOME site by the way!! If you want to know about music and podcasting…check him out!!!) So while I was…hopefully…giving some useful information, David asked me about the podcats I listened to and enjoyed! I think I mentioned everyone but EBAN!! What a dork am I!!!! The interview doesn’t go up until Monday, but I only hope that Eban will forgive me!!!! I emailed the MP3 to David in desperation!! OYE! I’ll just let the MP3 say it for me!!!

Yes, Ken, it’s been a while!! (since I’ve blogged!) …..a lot has happened….many things I can’t even discuss, but…..there is always a purpose, there’s always a plan and it’s all going to be okay. (can ya tell I’ve been praying…A LOT!!??) J Always a good thing in my opinion.

Question of the day: When was the point that your parent (my mom in this case) becomes the child and you become the parent??

For goodness sake, my mother…who is uber talented (I really don’t like that word “uber”…ah well it fits.) is working with me musically…she’s just the best!! Seriously!! So, I have this P&W song that I sang at church and we are doing a DEMO. So, I have the chords there, the bass line….minimal, but there….and I just need her amazing piano playing…she did this really cool thing at church and I LOVED it and wanted her to do that riff. Has she done it??? NO!!! “I haven’t had time, I’m not sure what to do with the MIDI….” Whine, whine, whine!! Come on mom! I’ve set it all up for you and all you have to do is press record and play. If ya mess up, you can do it again!! My technical mother who’s a wiz at computers…..you have NO idea!! I think, she’s rebelling!! All of those years of me rebelling and not wanting to do what she wanted….i.e. become a concert pianist…is coming around to bite me on the butt!! (oops! I typed out “butt”…note to all children…let’s say…”bottom.”) Okay!! Anyway, I was helping Marejohn out on Sunday and had to sit with mom at the piano. I was watching the music just flow out of mom’s fingers….all without sheet music mind you…and was just amazed!! I told mom later, “You have NO idea how talented you are, do you?” To which she brushed it off and said, “It’s just years of playing with Marejohn and such.” MOM, H-E-L-L-O!!! God has given you a MAGNIFICENT gift, admit it!!! J

Ya know I come from a musical family! On both sides!! But, my mom’s side is more “forward” about it! I had a music minister on my dad’s side…awesome baritone and I think EVERY family member on my mom’s side is musical!! My cousin Tony…percussionist with the Austin symphony, Debbie who has THE MOST GORGEOUS VOICE!! (You think I sound angelic…..Debbie’s voice is just breath-taking!!) I told her to put her group’s album on CD Baby at Christmastime. Debbie, I need to call ya and follow up on that!! In fact the 2 people I most wanted to sing like was Debbie and Marejohn!!

Anywho, Mom, stop rebelling and play your God-given gift!! The world NEEDS to hear!!!! J
