Purify

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the encouraging comments on my Facebook post. And forgive me, I sang it at First Baptist Moore’s Lane in Texarkana back in 2005 at either a Sunday night service or Wednesday night service. Vicki Carr was gracious to play with just my melody and chords.

In case you don’t have Facebook, I put it on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzObrs9dxTM

I am posting this to share the lyrics I wrote back in 2005:

Purify/Purified
(original Key A major)

(Verse 1)
Lord, here I am again.
Longing to see Your face
You see I need
Your comfort, Lord
And the beauty of Your grace

(Bridge 1)
Sometimes it seems
As the days go by
I don’t even look like Your child
So forgive me of my unloveliness
And hold me for a while

(Chorus 1)
      Purify me, Lord
I need a touch from You
Fill my heart with Your righteousness
Make me whole and make me new

(Verse 2)
Lord, now I run to you
Longing to see Your face
Your love, it comforts me
With the beauty of Your grace

(Bridge 2)
You teach me, Lord
As the days go by
And I look like I am Your child
You forgave me of my unloveliness
And You held me for a while.

(Chorus 2)
      You Purified me, Lord
You gave a touch so true
You filled my heart with Your righteousness
Now I’m whole and I’m renewed

(for Corporate Worship)
      Purify us, Lord
We need a touch from You
Fill our heart with Your righteousness
Make us whole and make us new

Choose this Day

Choose.

There’s always a choice.
It makes us who we are.
Free choice.
Something happens when you choose.
You submit.
You submit to your choice.
Your choice rules you.
Wholeheartedly.
Half-heartedly.
Still a choice.
Your choice.
You choose.

You seek advice to choose.
It’s still your choice.
You live out your choice.
You are your choice.
You choose to change.
You choose how to change.
That change changes you.
Wholeheartedly.
Half-heartedly.
Still a choice.
Your choice rules you.

Original Post:

I love to listen to classical music, always have. So, a few months ago, I heard about a contest on WQXR Classical Radio here in New York City. My brain rolled the idea around and thought, I’d like to enter. I was busy teaching my students and didn’t really think about it again. Then, a few days before the deadline, I remembered and told my husband if he would video me, I could enter. He did and I found out this week, I made the semi-finals! I am SO very excited! It is such an honor!

There are 3 categories. Mine is the 35+ category. Each category has 10 semi-finalists and the top 3 in those categories get to perform at Lincoln Center, a dream I’ve had since 8th grade!

You can help me get into the top 3!

Anyone with a Facebook account can go to my page, accept a video contest app and vote. You may vote 1 time within 24 hours.

I would be honored for you vote and then share with your friends and family to vote! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Help me Hamilton!

hamilton-01-800I have not posted since my dad passed. Sorry, I just have not made time for it. But I am starting back up for my niece Molly! 🙂

Back Story!

I always wanted my nieces Molly and Maggie to experience things I didn’t get to at their age. So far we’ve enjoyed Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Hollywood and Los Angeles! Now….it’s just Molly. So, since Chris and I live in NYC, Molly and my sister Diane get to – for the first time – experience The Big Apple! I’m SO excited!!

Now…

Hamilton is the HOTTEST ticket in town and not since Rent has a show made such an impact on the future of Broadway! Molly needs to see this show!

I have instructed them on how to do the lotto: https://hamiltonlottery.broadwaydirect.com/show/hamilton/ so we will be on it like a bonnet!

I’ve not seen the show, but I’ve listened to everything I can online thanks to the Hamilton Website!

Anyway! If ANYONE has any ideas or has at least 1 ticket for my niece in early March, please message me!

My Daddy

Odis Earl Tyler

On June 9th, I lost my Daddy, my Best Friend, and my Hero! Words can not express my emotions. He was laid to rest on June 13th in a beautiful love-filled service at Downtown First Baptist Church.

I want to say thank you to those who have reached out, sent food, cards, flowers…but most of all your prayers.

I will be with my family for a few weeks as we sift our way through this loss.

Daddy was a strong man of God and I know that he is with Jesus, Maggie, and all those who have gone on before him. I too will see him again one day in glory!

Praise be to God for Daddy’s amazing life and the legacy he left behind!

Memorials can be made to either:

Banana Botox Facial

Okay, I admit it. I’m OBSESSED with Pinterest! Back in Burbank one of my student’s mom told me about it and I thought to myself, “Lovely, yet another social medium to waste my time on.”

Banana Botox Well, now that I’m married, I’ve discovered that it’s like a secret homemaker social society. On it, I find (and share) adorable animal photos, DIY crafts, sewing, essential oils, candle making, and homemade skincare.

(O.M.G. I LOVE it!!)

Well, today…I’m sharing a facial mask that I ADORE!

It’s simple, it’s all natural, and it makes your face feel and look UH-MAZING! Plus, it tastes yummy, you know…just in case you happen to lick your lips with it on! (giggle!)

The Banana, Yogurt, Honey Facial Mask

It’s SO simple. Equal parts of each ingredient. That’s what I do. Here are the ingredients I use:

That’s it! Then put it on your face and leave it on for 20 minutes.

Instead of getting a banana, I use the baby food. As I understand banana powder also works. I just found it less messy to mix. The BeechNut has 2 ingredients: banana and lemon juice concentrate. If you suffer from acne? Use a REAL banana! Why? Because the peel is known to CURE acne!

If you google the skin benefits for any of these and you’ll find a SLEW of info! But here’s the breakdown:

Nutrients in Banana* Skin Benefits
Vitamin A Gets rid of dark spots and blemishes. Evens out rough skin
Vitamin B Delays aging, lessens dryness, moisturizes and lightens skin
Vitamin E Works as a “Protector”. Combats free radical impairment, boosts the skin’s sun-rays resistance, prevents and diminishes appearance of wrinkles
Potassium Gets rid of dry skin by moisturizing and hydrating skin cells
Not to mention that Dr. Oz calls bananas a natural botox!

Nutrients in Yogurt* Skin Benefits
Lactic Acid A natural alpha hydroxy acid that helps smooth and exfoliate skin as well as dissolve dead skin and tighten pores.
Zinc Helps soothe sunburns
Lactobacillus Used for skin disorders such as fever blisters, canker sores, eczema (allergic dermatitis); and acne
Probiotics When applied topically it is proven to reduce acne and rosacea by creating a protective shield. It also contains antimicrobial properties and calms the skin.

Nutrients in Honey* Skin Benefits
Hydrogen Peroxide and Phenolic Compounds It is antimicrobial and (the more natural the honey) antibacterial. Honey has been proven to resist flesh eating bacteria where usual antibiotics have not. (Yuck!)
Antioxidants Honey is full of antioxidants with help slow down and resist the signs of aging. (Yay!)

Depending on your skin type, you can add essential oils for even more benefits! Here’s a GREAT chart! I personally use therapeutic grade Young Living Essential Oils. If you are interested in purchasing wholesale, I’d love to have you on my team!
